The Genealogy page is where you can add surname and earliest known ancestor information.

To access your Genealogy page:

  1. Sign in to your myFTDNA account.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the page, hover your cursor over your name/Kit No., and click Account Settings from the drop-down menu.

    You are directed to Account Settings.
  3. At the top of Account Settings, click Genealogy.

Surnames

Your Surnames page allows you to enter your ancestral surnames. These are the surnames of all of your grandparents, great-grandparents, great-great-grandparents, etc.

To add ancestral surnames and associated locations/countries:

  • Access your Genealogy page.
  • At the top of the page, click Surnames. The Surnames page is displayed.
  • In the Surnames List, enter the surname information in the Add Surname and Add Location fields.
  • Click Save. The surname information is displayed in the list.
To edit ancestral surnames and associated locations/countries:

  1. Access your Genealogy page.
  2. At the top of the page, click Surnames. The Surnames page is displayed.
  3. In the Surname List, click the edit button (pencil icon) to the right of the surname and location that you wish to edit.
  4. Make your changes to the surname and/or location.
  5. Click Save.

Earliest Known Ancestors

Your Earliest Known Ancestors page allows you to enter the genealogical information for your earliest known direct maternal and paternal ancestors.

To enter information on your direct paternal earliest known ancestor:

  1. Access your Genealogy page.
  2. At the top of the page, click Earliest Known Ancestors. The Earliest Known Ancestors page is displayed.
  3. In the Direct Paternal Ancestor section, enter your proven information for your earliest known direct paternal ancestor.
  4. Click Save.

To enter information on your direct maternal earliest known ancestor:

  1. Access your Genealogy page.
  2. At the top of the page, click Earliest Known Ancestors. The Earliest Known Ancestors page is displayed.
  3. In the Direct Maternal Ancestor section, enter your proven information for your earliest known direct maternal ancestor.
  4. Click Save.
